Once upon a time Spam was spiced ham in a can. Than along came the internet and spam now means loaads of unwanted emails, but do you know how a can of ham became an unwanted email?
It all started in a comadey skit when a woman went into a resturant and ordered ham and eggs and was told that the only thing on the menue was spam, bacan, eggs, and spam (all mixed together), and try as she might to get anything to eat but spam, the only thing the waitress would bring her was an unending supply of spam, spam, spam and even more spam.
I haven't seen that skit in nearlty20 years, but tonight while searching YouTube I found it, and here it is, for those of you who didn't know why we call unwanted emails spam:
